3rd Annual “Benders Boots, Beans and Jeans Chili Cook-off”
Please join us for this year’s “Benders Boots, Beans and Jeans Chili Cook-off” sponsored by
the Benders Social Committee in conjunction with the Benders Bon Appetista’s.
This year’s Cook-off is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2020,
from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
at
Liberty Park, 3825 Lexington Blvd in Benders Landing.
Teams will compete in one of the following four categories:
“Chili with Beans”
“Chili without Beans”
“Wild Card Chili” (wild game)
“Healthy Choice”
There will also be an award for Best Booth Design so put on your creative cowboy hat pardner!
Each team will bring enough
precooked chili to feed approximately 30 people in a large pot or slow cooker,
along with toppings, plus your own extension cords, tables, hot plates, small canopy, Bunsen burners, hot pads, ladles and any other items that are necessary to keep the chili hot and servable.
*Electrical outlets are available on a limited basis.
NOTE: disposable bowls, spoons and napkins will be provided by the BSC.
The cost to register a team is$35. The teams must submit their team name when registering as well as the category they are competing in,
for example – “The Red-Hot Chili Mamas” / Without Beans.
Registration is set up on the Benders Landing website, with payments made through PayPal.

We are also seeking 16 volunteers
(4 groups of 4) with cast-iron stomachs to judge the chili and choose the winner
in each category. Of the four category winners, the grand champion will be
chosen this year by four of our brave
First Responders from the South Montgomery County Fire Department Station 6
with a fire truck on location as well. In addition, those in attendance will be able to cast their votes for the “People’s Choice” winner by putting a quarter or more into a voting box located at their teams booth and the one with the most $$$ wins.
*ALL of these proceeds will be donated to Boys & Girls Country in Hockley, Texas.
This event is open to and welcomes the entire
Benders Community at large and their guests.
Entry into the event will
cost $5.00 and will include one bowl of chili.
A quart of your favorite
chili to take home will cost $10.00
Frito pies for the “kiddo’s” will also
be available for $2.
For $1, the ingredients for S’mores will be provided to
prepare over a supervised fire pit for kid’s of all ages.
BYO favorite beverage to enjoy with your chili and friends.
Bottled water will be available for purchase.
Beer/Wine will be permitted.
+ Proceeds from this event will go to the BSC to help fund this year’s events with a minimum of 10% from this event to also be donated to Boys and Girls Country located in Hockley, Texas.
